The Bosch 5 inch orbital sander also comes in a 6-inch variation (Model number GET75-6N) which is ideal for slightly larger sanding projects.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at both models in terms of their performance, features, versatility, and overall product design. We will break down all of the specifications one by one as well as detail what is included with each sander. We’ll let you know how the sanders performed for us when we tested the product and finally, we’ll provide our verdict on the GET65-5N and the GET75-6N power sanders.
Bosch GET65-5N Feature Breakdown
The Bosch Get65-5N comes jam-packed with features that will make almost any sanding project a total breeze. From its dual-mode design to its versatile hose attachment system, this sander is really a fantastic tool for any small to medium-sized sanding requirement – be it DIY-based or even professional.
The power sander has a fantastic design that both looks great and is truly practical to work with. The ergonomic design of the power sander makes it really easy to hold; this is thanks in particular to its long thin body (which is easy to grip whilst sanding) and its auxiliary handle which allows you to hold the sander firmly whilst carrying out your work. In addition, the handles allow you to minimize the vibration and really control exactly how the sander moves over the surface. In our testing, we found this allowed us to have a much higher level of control in terms of sanding accuracy and the result was an extremely smooth finish.
The Bosch sander has a switch on the side that allows you to switch it from the standard random orbit mode into what’s called “turbo direct-drive eccentric-orbit” mode. In this mode, the sander will remove, on average, 3 times as much material from the surface being sanded. This mode is great when you have a lot of material to sand down, or you are trying to smooth a very rough and uneven surface.
As mentioned previously, the auxiliary handle allows for tighter control over the sander. The handle can be attached to either the left or the right side of the sander and is ideal when you are trying to remain in complete control over the sander and also in general it helps to minimize the amount of vibration coming from the sander.
Integral Pad Dampening
Another great feature of the orbital sander is the integrated pad dampening and braking system. This helps to reduce the amount of vibration coming from the sander and effectively allows for a far smoother finish to the area being sanded. This is achieved by reducing swirl marks (As the sander does not move out of control as easily).
Hook and Loop Backing Pad
The tool comes with a hook and loop backing pad. This makes the attaching and removal of sanding pads very fast and easy. In conjunction with the multi-holed design, this also allows for the sander to be compatible with a much wider range of sanding pads than you would normally expect from an orbital sander.
Die-Cast Aluminum Gear Housing
The gear-housing is made from die-cast aluminum and also contains a dual-bearing pad mount. This design helps to reduce vibration and ultimately allows for a smoother finish as well as making it a pleasure to use; because even after a prolonged period of sanding, you don’t have that numb feeling in your body that you get from sanders that give off considerable vibration.
Vacuum Hose Attachment System
Both models of the Bosch power sander come with 2 Vacuum hose adaptors – the standard extension tube as well as a VAC024 Vacuum Hose Adapter which allows you to connect 35mm, 1-1/4 In. and 1-1/2 In. hoses. This is a really functional addition to an already amazing sander, as it allows you to attach such a wide range of hoses and dust collection systems to the tool.
GET75-6N – Bosch 6 Inch Random Orbit Sander Variant
As well as the standard 5″ sander, this tool also comes in a 6-inch variant with model number GET75-6N. This is effectively an identical orbit sander, except that it has the larger 6″ disc size. Both versions of the sander are similar in size and weight, they are also very easy to handle, despite the larger size. So in order to decide which sander you want to purchase, it really just comes down to the size of sanding work that you are planning on carrying out. If you are doing small detailed work then the 5-inch model would be preferable and equally, if you are undertaking a slightly larger sanding project then we’d suggest going for the 6-inch model.
Ideal Alternative to Bosch 1250DEVS 6″ Orbital Sander
The Get75-6N (the 6″ model) is an ideal alternative to the Bosch 1250DEVS which, at the time of writing, is out of stock and unavailable to order from all online stores. We previously reviewed the D1250 and D1255 Bosch sanders and they are very similar in design, feature-set, and functionality when compared to the Bosch Get75-6N, making the latter an ideal alternative if you were originally looking to purchase the Bosch 1250DEVS.

Frequently asked Questions
Can the device be used on different surfaces?
Yes, this sander is very versatile in terms of the surface types which it will sand. Because it’s large and fairly powerful you will have no problem sanding down wood, steel, and even polishing metal car bodywork. The only stipulation here is that you select the correct type of sanding pad based on the surface type that you are planning to sand. However, thanks to its versatile pad attachment system with hook and loop and multi-hole design, you have a wide range of options here.
What is the difference between the 5-inch and 6-inch models?
Both models come with the same features and the same additional parts. The only real difference is the size of the pads that it will accept – 5″ or 6″ respectively – and also the weight of the sander with the 5″ model weighing 5.3 pounds and the 6″ model weighing 5.7 pounds.
