This Ryobi cordless sander is a battery-operated device, so no mains cord is required. This is great if you are working in an area where there is no mains plug socket to attach to or if you are in a location where you need maximum maneuverability – for example, working from up a ladder or outside.
The Ryobi random orbital sander is very impressive considering that it is battery-powered and cable-free – it still puts out an impressive 10,000 OPM when the sanding pad is spinning freely. It certainly does a good job when sanding. Perhaps not quite as powerful as other mains-powered orbital sanders, but still very impressive considering it takes its power from a battery – enough to make it onto our best orbital sander list.
Cordless power: compatible with the Ryobi One+ battery system
This particular unit does not come with a battery. It is just the base sanding unit. You will need to purchase the Ryobi One+ battery system alongside the device. This battery is available here from Amazon and also from most hardware stores.
It may seem strange for an orbital sander to come without a battery. Still, when you understand the Ryobi way of doing things, it makes complete sense. With Ryobi power tools, all use the global Ryobi One+ battery system, which means that batteries are compatible across all power tools. This is a great way of keeping the cost of their power tools down because if you are a loyal customer, you only need to purchase one or two batteries. They can be used with all your Ryobi tools. This makes far more sense than having five batteries spread across your 5 Ryobi power tools and rather allows you to have two batteries regardless of how many devices you own. This allows you to have one battery charging and one in use at all times.
Sanding pads included
The Ryobi orbital sander comes with pads so that you are ready to start sanding as soon as you unpack the device – the pads use the common hook and loop system for easy attaching to the device and easy removal and replacement if the pads become worn.

Why buy it?
This sander does her job precisely and is certainly a good choice for short-term jobs or DIY enthusiasts. If found under $ 50, it may be the right choice.
Why not buy it?
The new model that actually replaces it in the Ryobi price list, or the ** PCL406B, ** has the same performance and cost and, above all, reduced vibrations. So for the same price, I would aim for the most recent model.
